Airing my Dirty Laundry. - 2013
“Airing my Dirty Laundry” is a series of 21 writings, all but two written by myself. Each poem or writing is transcribed with a typewriter over a solvent transfer on cotton. Each image is associated with a specific theme or subject that is very personal or perhaps a little hard to talk about. These writings feature poems about everything from menstrual cycles to studio struggles to strained father relationships. By installing the work in an interactive way I allow the work to be closely and intimately experienced. And by pinning the writings up to the clothesline I give myself permission to release these burdens I carry. These burdens are not mine alone either. Therefore I hope by being brave enough to bare these parts of my life I help give others permission to “air their dirty laundry” as well.
